Flux symposium

The Flux Symposium was a one-day event to discuss the motivations for and consequences of drug use among gay and bisexual men. The Flux Study is Australia’s first and only longitudinal study of drug use among gay and bisexual men. The study uses a unique and innovative online methodology developed specifically to identify factors that predict initiation of and changes in patterns of drug use over time.

The symposium discussed what Flux can tell us about the predictors and consequences of drug use and explored the issues surrounding gay and bisexual men’s beliefs and behaviours concerning drugs.

The Honourable Justice Michael Kirby will be opening the symposium. Speakers included Associate Professor Garrett Prestage, Dr Jeff Jin, Dr Toby Lea, and Mr Mo Hammoud, with guest speakers Associate Professor Martin Holt and Associate Professor Adam Bourne (UK). This symposium will be hosted by Dr Denton Callander.
